PULITZER CENTER GENDER EQUALITY GRANT

The Pulitzer Center, a non-profit organization that supports independent global journalism, is seeking applications for investigative data-driven projects on issues related to gender equality and the empowerment of women & girls. This opportunity is open to all newsrooms and independent journalists in the United States and abroad.

ELIGIBILITY:

This opportunity is open to U.S. residents and journalists around the world. We are open to proposals from freelance journalists, staff journalists, or groups of newsrooms working in collaboration with a project idea. We want to make sure that people from many backgrounds and perspectives are empowered to produce journalism. We strongly encourage proposals from journalists and newsrooms who represent a broad array of social, racial, ethnic, underrepresented groups, and economic backgrounds.

To apply, you will be asked to provide the following:

A description of the proposed project in no more than 250 words. 

A preliminary budget estimate, including a basic breakdown of costs. 

A compelling distribution plan.

They aim to support teams that reflect the communities they report on. They hope the Gender Equality Grant can help their partner organizations advance their diversity, equity, and inclusion goals and commitments.

BENEFIT:

The average size of a Pulitzer Center grant is $5,000.

IAEA MARIE SKLODOWSKA-CURIE FELLOWSHIP PROGRAMME

The IAEA Marie Sklodowska-Curie Fellowship Programme (MSCFP) seeks to inspire and support young women to pursue a career in the nuclear field. To that end, the MSCFP provides scholarships to selected students studying towards a master’s degree in nuclear-related subjects as well as limited internship opportunities facilitated by the IAEA.

ELIGIBILITY:

The IAEA MSCFP is open to students from IAEA Member States who meet the following entry requirements:

Female candidates;

Accepted by or enrolled in an accredited university in a master’s programme in a nuclear-related field.

Preference will be given to applicants with above-average academic credentials (75% or above or GPA > 3.0 out of 4.0).

The programme supports young women studying in nuclear-related fields relevant to the IAEA’s work to advance the safe, secure, and peaceful uses of nuclear science and technology, such as nuclear engineering, nuclear physics and chemistry, nuclear medicine, isotopic techniques, radiation biology, nuclear safety, nuclear security, non-proliferation, and nuclear law. The documents required in addition to the completed online application form are:

Copy of the Passport/National ID

Official acceptance/admission letter from the university into the master’s programme indicating the nuclear-related field of study and duration of the programme

Statement of tuition fees/confirmation of tuition costs

If applicable, documents about other scholarships you have for the master’s programme for which you are seeking MSCFP support.

Completed reference templates sent directly to MSCFP by referees by the application deadline (download the form here). One reference is MANDATORY; the second is preferred.

NOTE: All application documents must be submitted in English using the MSCFP online application form. If documents are submitted in the original language, please also include an official translation in English. Incomplete applications will not be considered.

Applications are assessed by the IAEA MSCFP Technical Selection Committee against MSCFP selection criteria, including the applicant’s entry requirements, educational background and prior achievements, motivation and impact of the fellowship on the applicant’s career goals and commitment to public service. Consideration is given to geographic, field of study, and linguistic diversity as well as other factors.

All applicants will be notified of the decision by e-mail.

BENEFIT:

The students are awarded up to €20,000 for tuition costs and up to €20,000 for living costs for the master’s programme. Applicants are obliged to declare if they have additional scholarships and to provide relevant documents, in which case the IAEA’s financial support would be reduced accordingly, i.e., only covering tuition costs, not living costs, for the duration of the programme. Failure to provide such information in a timely and transparent manner may lead to suspension of the IAEA’s financial support.
