LOCATION: Canada
Graduate Teaching Assistantships (GTAs) are available to qualified full-time International or Domestic students who meet the minimum average for automatically receiving a GTA, which is set at 75%. The awards are designated partially as employment and partially as a Fellowship.
ELIGIBILITY:
You must be qualified full-time International or Domestic students who meet the minimum average for automatically receiving a GTA
If appointed, students are required to work up to ten hours a week in some form of teaching assistance. GTAs are only available to students registered full-time in the first two years of studies in Laurentian’s graduate master’s program and four years for PhD programs. Should an offer of admission letter indicate eligibility for GTA, it means the student has met the above-listed qualifications. The next step is to register for courses in both the Fall and Winter terms of the academic year he or she is admitted to.
The value of the GTA is reviewed annually. For further information, contact the Faculty of Graduate Studies or the department concerned.
BENEFIT:
The 2025-2026 value of the GTA is $10,034 for M.Sc. students ($4,901 is the salary portion paid on a bi-weekly basis, and the graduate fellowship is payable in one installment of $5,133 into the students’ Laurentian University account) and $14,547 for Ph.D. students ($7,270 in the salary portion paid on a bi-weekly basis, and the graduate fellowship is payable in one installment of $7,277 into the students’ Laurentian University account) and is subject to the same review for the coming years.
