4WARD GRADUATION SCHOLARSHIP FOR INTERNATIONAL SCHOLARS

The 4WARD Graduation Scholarship for International Scholars is an exciting opportunity to successfully complete your degree in four years while maintaining financial stability. Combined with a Global Tuition Rate, the 4WARD Graduation Scholarships make an EMU education even more affordable for international undergraduate students.

ELIGIBILITY:

The Concept: You pay for your first two consecutive years of tuition at the current tuition rate. Then EMU will pay for 100% of your next two consecutive years of tuition. You’ll live in an on-campus community for each of the four years to better serve you as you progress in your degree.

The Math: The 4WARD Graduation Scholarship offers a four-year graduation commitment. When you successfully complete two years at Eastern Michigan University, they will fund your full tuition for your remaining two years.

The Commitment: They will help you afford to live and learn on campus for four years at to encourage successful four-year graduation.

Admitted international students with a 3.0+ cumulative GPA will have the opportunity to opt into the 4WARD Graduation Scholarship. To secure your scholarship, take the following steps:

Apply for admission to Eastern Michigan University. 

If you meet the GPA criteria, you will receive an email asking you to opt-in. Follow the steps in that email to opt into the 4WARD Graduation Scholarship. Please note: Opting in does not guarantee you will receive the scholarship.

Financial Aid will reach out to you with a Terms & Conditions contract to be signed and returned by a specified deadline should you meet all eligibility requirements.

Sign the contract and return it to Financial Aid, and your financial aid award will be updated.

Continue to meet all terms and conditions in years 1 and 2 and receive the 4WARD scholarship in years 3 and 4.

BENEFIT:

Eastern Michigan University (EMU) will pay for 100% of your next two consecutive years of tuition.

LA TROBE UNIVERSITY PROJECT-BASED GRADUATE RESEARCH SCHOLARSHIPS

Application Deadline: Open Year-Round

LOCATION: Australia

Scholarships are available for specific PhD research projects at La Trobe University, Australia. Successful applicants can commence at any time with the support of their supervisor. Available PhD project scholarships are listed on the program website and will be open until filled. 

ELIGIBILITY:

To apply for PhD candidacy, you will need one of the following:

A Master’s by Research degree in a relevant discipline completed within the last ten years assessed at a La Trobe Master’s by Research thesis standard of 70 or above; OR

Bachelor’s (Honours) degree or Master’s by Coursework degree with a minor thesis of 10,000 to 20,000 (depending on disciplinary norms)* completed within the last ten years, where the minor thesis is assessed at a La Trobe Master’s by Research thesis standard of 70 or above.

Applicants should seek advice from their proposed supervisor regarding discipline norms where applicable regarding the typical thesis length. The written research component of your application will be evaluated according to the Master’s by Research Thesis Grading Schema and will need to be assessed at a standard of 70 or above.

Alternative Entry Equivalency:

If you don’t meet the minimum academic entry requirements for your chosen degree, you may still be considered for admission based on equity or alternative criteria. To be eligible, you must provide discipline-relevant evidence that demonstrates you possess equivalent knowledge and skills, and that you are capable of successfully undertaking a higher degree by research.

If you’re applying under alternative entry equivalency, we strongly recommend discussing your application with your prospective principal supervisor. They can help you select the most suitable research degree based on your background and assist in identifying the skills and experience that support your eligibility.

International applicants: As an international applicant, you will also need to provide evidence that you meet the minimum English language requirements set for your course (some programs can have higher English language requirements).

BENEFIT:

Successful PhD project scholarship applicants will receive the following:

A generous stipend valued at $36,000 per annum (2026 full-time rate) for 3.5 years for a PhD

A tuition fee scholarship for 4 years for doctoral degrees

Thesis and relocation allowances
