YALE UNIVERSITY COUNCIL ON AFRICAN STUDIES: VISITING AFRICAN SCHOLARS FELLOWSHIP

The Council on African Studies at the Whitney and Betty MacMillan Center for International and Area Studies at Yale University invites applications for its Visiting African Scholars Fellowship Program for the 2026-2027 academic year. 

ELIGIBILITY:

The Visiting African Scholars will be expected to be in full-time residence during the academic year beginning August 1, 2026. An earned doctorate in a relevant field and equivalent qualifications for research and teaching are expected for the successful candidates.

Applicants should apply through Interfolio and must include the following:

Cover letter, including current e-mail address and name of Yale faculty member you would want to work with and why.

Current curriculum vitae, including publications.

A 1000-word description of the proposed research project.

Names and contact information for two references who can provide a letter of recommendation if shortlisted.

A summary of the proposed course with the schedule of readings and assignments

    HDR (PHD) SCHOLARSHIP – ION-ATOM COLLISION DATA FOR FUSION ENERGY, HADRON THERAPY AND ASTROPHYSICS AT CURTIN UNIVERSITY

    LOCATION: Australia

    This scholarship is funded by an ARC Discovery Project in conjunction with support from Curtin University. The purpose of the scholarship is to support a PhD student to carry out research in quantum collision theory. Currently, there is an urgent demand for accurate data on ion-beam collisions with atomic and molecular targets for the development and maintenance of fusion reactors, treatment planning in hadron therapy, and modelling astrophysical phenomena.

    Eligible courses: Any HDR student wishing to obtain a PhD in the field of physics.

    The successful candidate must meet the minimum academic entry requirement for admission into the Doctor of Philosophy program https://research.curtin.edu.au/postgraduate/ including the English proficiency levels set by Curtin University (e.g., IELTS, Overall 6.5, Speaking 6.0, Writing 6.0, Reading 6.0 and Listening 6.0). Candidates should have a master’s or bachelor’s (Honors) degree in physics. Students with previous research experience and publications in physics or quantum chemistry are encouraged to apply.

    Recipients must complete their milestone 1 within 6 months of enrollment and remain enrolled on a full-time basis for the duration of the scholarship.
