FULLY FUNDED UNIVERSITY OF EXETER’S DEPARTMENT OF ENGINEERING PHD STUDENTSHIP

The University of Exeter’s Department of Engineering invites applications for a fully funded PhD studentship starting on 23 September 2024. The studentship covers Home or International tuition fees and provides an annual tax-free stipend of at least £19,237 for 3.5 years full-time, or pro rata for part-time study. The student will be based in the Faculty of Environment, Science and Economy at the Streatham Campus in Exeter.

ELIGIBILITY:

They seek a motivated candidate with a strong background in biomedical engineering, electromagnetic theories, mathematical modelling, electronic engineering, neuroscience, and materials science or related disciplines. Experience in microfabrication, wireless power transfer, electrophysiology, or biomedical device development is advantageous. The successful candidate will join a multidisciplinary team and gain expertise in advanced neuromodulation techniques, materials science, and neural engineering.

English Language Requirements: Non-native English speakers must meet the university’s English proficiency requirements, as outlined at Exeter’s English guidance page.

HONJO INTERNATIONAL SCHOLARSHIP FOUNDATION FOR FOREIGN STUDENTS’ SCHOLARSHIP

Application Deadline: October 31, 2024.

LOCATION: Japan

This scholarship is open to foreign students who study or plan to study in a Japanese graduate school for a doctoral or master’s degree. Applications can be submitted from abroad if applicants are accepted to a Japanese graduate school. All nationalities and research fields are welcome. Applicants may directly apply to the foundation without preselection by the university.

ELIGIBILITY:

(To be eligible to apply for the scholarship, the student must meet ALL of the requirement criteria listed below.)

The student must not possess Japanese citizenship.

The student must be enrolled as of April 2025 or currently applying for the academic course starting from April 2025 at a graduate school in Japan. Those who are already enrolled and those who are not enrolled yet (including people who are currently employed with jobs at the time of applying for the program) are both eligible to apply for this scholarship if they are going to be enrolled in April 2025. Those who are going to enter graduate schools in the fall of 2025 can apply for this spring scholarship program.

In principle, the student enrolling in a professional graduate school is not eligible to apply. However, the student who can submit a research plan is eligible to apply.

The enrolment duration until graduation must be longer than 12 months.

To be eligible, the student applying for the PhD program must start the PhD course by the age of 35.

The student applying for the master’s program must start the master’s course by the age of 30 (no exceptions).

The student must have a strong commitment to serving their home country as a future career plan.

BENEFIT:

The scholarship period for the recipient is set according to the shortest period of time required to complete the intended degree:
¥230,000 per month for 1 year or 2 years
¥210,000 per month for 3 years
¥180,000 per month for 4 years or 5 years

The payment period cannot be changed once it commences
