EUROPEAN UNION ACADEMIC MOBILITY FOR CLIMATE RESILIENCE ACROSS AFRICA

The MMoCRA programme supports African students, researchers, trainees and university staff through fully-funded scholarships and academic mobility grants for Masters, Doctoral, and Traineeship programmes.

ELIGIBILITY:

MMoCRA provides structured academic mobility and knowledge exchange opportunities for diverse stakeholders committed to advancing climate resilience across Africa.

Students and Early Career Researchers: Master’s Students, Doctoral Candidates, and Trainees across Africa are the primary beneficiaries of the MMoCRA mobility scheme. The program offers comprehensive support for advanced studies in climate resilience, providing access to world-class facilities, multidisciplinary training, and opportunities to develop scientific, technical, and practical skills necessary to address Africa’s climate challenges.

Available Opportunities:

44 Master’s degree scholarships (up to 24 months)
12 Doctoral scholarships (up to 36 months)
20 short-term traineeships (3-6 months)

Academic and Administrative Staff: Lecturers, researchers, supervisors, mobility coordinators, and project administrators within the consortium and beyond are invited to participate in staff mobility programs. These opportunities focus on teaching collaboration, research partnerships, capacity-building activities, and institutional strengthening.

Available Opportunities:

19 staff mobility positions (1-3 months)

Industry and Practice-Oriented Stakeholders: Members in the climate, energy, agrifood, and sustainability sectors including energy companies, agribusinesses, research and innovation hubs, consultancies, and professional associations are key partners in the MMoCRA ecosystem. The program develops competencies aligned with real-world climate challenges and offers opportunities for collaboration, internships, and knowledge exchange.

Policy and Decision-Making Stakeholders: Government institutions, public agencies, and regional policy bodies in Africa and relevant EU-level stakeholders receive insights on skills development, capacity-building outcomes, and evidence-based contributions that support climate-resilient development and informed policymaking.

Wider Community: Civil society organizations, local communities, and individuals interested in climate resilience, sustainability, and higher education benefit from MMoCRA’s societal impact and long-term contributions to building climate-resilient economies and communities.

ECOWAS YOUNG GRADUATE IMMERSION PROGRAMME (YGP) 2027 COHORT

In response to this challenge of the issue of labour market integration, ECOWAS has put in place the ECOWAS Nnamdi Azikiwe Academic Mobility Programme (ENAAMS Programme), one component of which is the professional immersion programme within its institutions and agencies, with the aim of offering young graduates from across the region a practical opportunity to enhance their professional skills and employability. Join the elite of young African professionals and help shape the future of regional integration in West Africa.

ELIGIBILITY:

The 2027 cohort of the immersion programme is open to recent graduates from ECOWAS Member States (Benin, Cape Verde, Côte d’Ivoire, The Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, GuineaBissau, Liberia, Nigeria, Senegal, Sierra Leone and Togo) aged between eighteen (18) and thirty-two (32) years (18 to 32 years).

The official languages of ECOWAS are French, English and Portuguese. Applicants to the programme must be proficient in at least one of these languages.

The applicant must:

Be a national of an ECOWAS Member State (Benin, Cape Verde, Côte d’Ivoire, The Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Liberia, Nigeria, Senegal, Sierra Leone and Togo);

Be aged between 18 and 32 on the closing date;

A Bachelor’s degree holder, a Master’s degree holder, a PhD holder, or an equivalent qualification.

Application Procedures (How to Apply): Applications must be submitted exclusively via the programme’s official platform.

Each applicant may apply for a maximum of two (02) positions.

Only one cover letter is required for applications.

Ninety (90) posts have been allocated for the year 2027. The process is based on the principles of merit, fairness, transparency, and equal opportunities. It includes the following stages:

Online submission of applications via the programme’s dedicated platform;

Assessment of applications by a selection committee set up by the ECOWAS Commission;

Institutional approval of the selected candidates;

Notification to successful candidates.

BENEFIT:

Any selected applicant who leaves their country of origin to take up a post in another country is considered to be on secondment (in mobility). In this case, a flight ticket is issued to them from their country of origin to the country where the host institution is located.
