FULLY FUNDED UNIVERSITY OF MICHIGAN AFRICAN PRESIDENTIAL SCHOLARS PROGRAMME IN USA.

The university of Michigan welcome direct applications from faculty members of colleges or universities from Angola, Botswana, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Malawi, Mozambique, Nigeria, Rwanda, South Africa, and Uganda to pply for the 2024/2025 Presidential Scholars Programme. The program supports the development of the next generation of African scholars by integrating them into international academic networks, and promotes U-M’s international commitment to research and teaching collaborations across diverse disciplines, from engineering to literature to economics.

ELIGIBILITY:

*Previous recipients of the UMAPS fellowship are not eligible to apply. Preference will be given to applicants without extensive international experience outside the continent.

All applicants must:

Be an early career faculty member who has taught in the higher education system for less than ten years and is presently teaching in a college or university in Africa.

Be employed in an ongoing position at a university or college in Africa.

Be able to demonstrate support from a home institution with a letter of recommendation from the head of the department, dean, or vice chancellor.

Please note that applicants will not be able to fully submit their application until the endorsement from their home university has been received.

Be able to remain in residence for five months.

BENEFIT:

Those admitted to the UMAPS Program will receive:

Five months of residency at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan, paired with a faculty collaborator with full access to the university’s resources

Round-trip airfare from their home country to Ann Arbor, Michigan

Free housing (private room & bath in a suite setting), medical insurance, a research allowance, and a modest stipend to cover living (Important note: The UMAPS program is unable to accommodate spouses and/or dependents)

Office/Laboratory space 

Opportunity to present research to the U-M community

GATES CAMBRIDGE SCHOLARSHIPS FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

Application Deadline: 5 December, 2023 & 4 January, 2024

LOCATION: Cambridge, United Kingdom

Applications for Gates Cambridge scholarships for international students 2024 entry open in 4 September 2023. Gates Cambridge manages two selection rounds each year. The large majority of applicants will apply in this round, which is aligned with the University’s postgraduate funding competition. There are two possible application deadlines and these are based on the course to which you are applying.  Please apply by the Course Funding Deadline referenced in the University Course Directory (found in the column on the right of the web page).  All application documents should be submitted by 23:59pm (midnight) UK time on the stated date.

ELIGIBILITY:

You can apply for a Gates Cambridge Scholarship if you are:

a citizen of any country outside the United Kingdom

applying to pursue one of the following courses at the University of Cambridge:

PhD (full-time or part-time*)

MLitt (full-time)

One year postgraduate course (full-time), with some exceptions

BENEFIT:

A Gates Cambridge Scholarship covers the full cost of studying at Cambridge. It also provides additional, discretionary funding.

A maintenance allowance for a single student (£20,000 for 12 months at the 2023-24 rate; pro rata for courses shorter than 12 months) – for PhD scholars the award is for up to 4 years

One economy single airfare at both the beginning and end of the course

Inbound visa costs & the cost of the Immigration Health Surcharge

About 80 scholarships are awarded each year.
