BROWN UNIVERSITY: PEMBROKE CENTER POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCH ASSOCIATE, 2026-27

the Pembroke Center will award residential Postdoctoral Research Associate positions to scholars from any field whose research relates to the theme of “The Meanings of Merit: Labor, Categories of Difference, and the Creation of Knowledge.” Fellows are required to participate in a weekly research seminar and teach one undergraduate course.

ELIGIBILITY:

Candidates are selected on the basis of their scholarly potential and the relevance of their work to the research theme.

Recipients must have a PhD at the start of the fellowship and may not hold a tenured position.

Fellowships are awarded to scholars who have received their degrees from institutions other than Brown University within the last five (5) years. The term of appointment is July 1, 2026-June 30, 2027. 

The Pembroke Center is especially interested in qualified candidates who can contribute, through their research, teaching, and/or service, to the diversity and excellence of the academic community.

Selected finalists will be asked to submit additional materials, including

One-page document including title and 250-word abstract of proposed research project

Project statement of five typed pages (double-spaced)

Brief representative bibliography for research proposal

Three confidential recommendation letters

Course syllabus with a course description and schedule of assigned readings for an upper-level undergraduate Gender and Sexuality Studies seminar.

BENEFIT:

The annual salary for this postdoctoral position is between $62,232 and $67,824, commensurate with years of experience, plus $2,000 for research expenses and an additional one-time $1,000 stipend to assist in the transition to Providence.

MS GRADUATE RESEARCH ASSISTANT AT THE TEXAS TECH UNIVERSITY

Texas Tech University seeks a student to contribute to an NSF-funded program on assessing the variation of fuel attributes as drivers of grassland wildfire behavior. 

ELIGIBILITY:

Have a bachelor’s degree in a related field.

Prior experience with remote sensing and/or fire ecology is desirable.

Strong, demonstrated interest in at least one of these areas is required. 

The student will predict fuel characteristics at regional scales using remote sensing and will assist with experimental fires and contribute to a fire-focused network of land managers and scientists in the Southern Great Plains.
