UNIVERSITY OF AUCKLAND MASTER OF HEALTH LEADERSHIP – INTERNATIONAL STUDENT SCHOLARSHIPS

LOCATION: New Zealand

A Scholarship to support new international students enrolling full-time in a Master of Health Leadership with a contribution towards tuition fees. The main purpose of the Scholarship is to support international students to develop leadership capabilities for the health sector and further their careers in health management, health care quality improvement, international health management and health leadership in their communities by enrolling in the Master of Health Leadership at the Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences.

ELIGIBILITY:

The Scholarships will be awarded to new international students applying for admission to a Master of Health Leadership at the University of Auckland Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences. Students who have commenced study in a Master of Health Leadership are not eligible for consideration for these scholarships.

To take up and be paid the Scholarships the candidate must be enrolled and have paid the fees, or arranged to pay the fees, for full-time enrollment in a Master of Health Leadership in the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences.

The Scholarships are tenable by international students. The basis of selection will be academic merit; successful applicants will have a GPA or GPE of at least 5.00 in their most recent qualifying programme. The country of origin of the candidate may be considered by the selection committee to align with the University’s strategic aims.

The Scholarships will be awarded by the University of Auckland Council on the recommendation of a selection committee comprising the Associate Dean of Education of the Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences (or nominee) and the International Manager of the Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences (or nominee).

The Scholarship will be paid as a compulsory fee credit of up to $5,000 per Semester.

The Scholarship may be held concurrently with any other award or grant as long as a) the terms of that award or grant permit and b) the University of Auckland Council is informed and approves.

The University of Auckland Council, in consultation with the Donor, has the power to terminate or suspend a Scholarship if it receives an unsatisfactory report on the progress of a Scholar from the Associate Dean of the Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences

BENEFIT:

Up to ten scholarships will be awarded, each for the duration of the programme and will be of the value of up to
$15,000 each.

SCHOLARSHIP FOR FOREIGN STUDENTS STUDYING IN JAPANESE GRADUATE SCHOOL

Application Deadline: October 31 2025

LOCATION: Japan

This scholarship is open to foreign students who study or plan to study in a Japanese graduate school for a doctoral or master’s degree. Applications can be submitted from abroad if applicants are accepted to a Japanese graduate school. All nationalities and research fields are welcome. Applicants may directly apply to the foundation without pre-selection by the university.

ELIGIBILITY:

The student must not possess Japanese citizenship.

The student must be enrolled as of April 2026 or currently applying for the academic course starting from April 2025 at a graduate school in Japan. Those who are already enrolled and those who are not enrolled yet (including people who are currently employed with jobs at the time of applying for the program) are both eligible to apply for this scholarship if they are going to be enrolled in April 2026. Those who are going to enter graduate schools in the fall of 2026 can apply for this scholarship program.

In principle, the student enrolling in a professional graduate school is not eligible to apply. However, the student who can submit a research plan is eligible to apply.

The enrolment duration until graduation must be longer than 12 months.

The student applying for the PhD program must start the PhD course by the age of 35.

The student applying for the master’s program must start the master’s course by the age of 30 (No exceptions).

The student must have a strong commitment to serving their home country as a future career plan.

The student must have a deep understanding of international friendship and goodwill, attend events organized by the Foundation, and take part in the network as an alumni member.

The student must be able to carry out a basic conversation in Japanese. Interviews will be conducted in Japanese (No exceptions).

BENEFIT:

The scholarship will be provided monthly throughout the minimum period required to acquire the degree. The amount of scholarship depends on the period, as below:

 ¥230,000 per month for a 1- to 2-year degree
 ¥210,000 per month for a 3-year degree
 ¥180,000 per month for beyond 3 years of degree
