VIRGINIA COMMONWEALTH UNIVERSITY FIRST-YEAR UNDERGRADUATE SCHOLARSHIPS

All incoming first-year students who apply to VCU by Nov. 1 will be considered for the following university-level scholarships. Students who apply by Nov. 1 will be notified by the beginning of April of any scholarship offers. Recipients are selected based on academic merit. Leadership, community service and artistic talent (when applicable) also may be considered.

ELIGIBILITY:

To be considered for a university-level scholarship as a first-year student:

Your application materials (Common Application plus an official high school transcript) must be received by the Office of Admissions by Nov. 1.

Merit-based scholarships cover in-state costs only. If you get a four-year scholarship, it’s renewable for up to three consecutive years if you complete at least 28 credit hours on a full-time basis over the fall and spring semesters and maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.3 or better.

Additional scholarship awards may be offered by the Office of Admissions to students to recognize their academic achievements, leadership efforts or other personal attributes.

All applicants seeking scholarship consideration are encouraged to submit a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

BENEFIT:

Presidential Scholarship: The four-year Presidential Scholarship covers the cost of tuition and fees up to $16,000 per year (maximum amount of $8,000 per semester), as well as room and board. Room allowance is equal to the cost of a room in the Honors College residence hall; board is equivalent to the 250 Block plus $225 Dining Dollars meal plan. 

The estimated total value of this four-year award is approximately $114,356.

Provost Scholarship: The four-year Provost Scholarship covers the cost of tuition and fees up to $16,000 per year (maximum amount of $8,000 per semester) for an estimated total value of $64,000.

Deans’ Scholarship: The four-year Deans’ Scholarship covers the cost of tuition and fees up to $8,000 per year (maximum amount of $4,000 per semester). The estimated total value of this four-year award is approximately $32,000.

QUEEN’S UNIVERSITY BELFAST INTERNATIONAL UNDERGRADUATE SCHOLARSHIP  

LOCATION: Ireland

This award is exclusively for new international students who are beginning their first year of full-time undergraduate study at Queen’s University Belfast in the academic year 2025/26 and meet the conditions of their academic offer.

No separate application for this scholarship is required. If you are holding an offer for an eligible programme and meet the criteria as set out in these terms & conditions, you will automatically be awarded an International Undergraduate Taught Scholarship upon enrollment.

All scholarships are offered subject to terms and conditions.

ELIGIBILITY:

The International Undergraduate Scholarship is exclusively for new international students.

Application is not required. Eligible students will be notified automatically with their offer or shortly after receiving their offer, depending on their application method.

Students must hold an offer for a place on a full-time undergraduate programme at the Queen’s University Belfast campus, starting in the academic year 2025/26 and prior to commencement of study, have met any academic and language conditions attached to their offer as stated in their offer letter. Exclusions apply

Students must be classified as international fee-paying students paying the full international tuition fee rate in order to be considered for this discount. Students paying NI, ROI, EU or GB fees are not eligible for the International Undergraduate Scholarship.

The discount is awarded for the first year of study only and is deducted from gross tuition fees upon enrollment. The scholarship cannot be used in lieu of any required deposit, and no cash alternative is available.

Any International Undergraduate Scholarship awarded is for entry to Queen’s University Belfast in the autumn semester of the academic year 2025/26 and cannot be used for 2026/27 entry or any other year.

If you wish to defer your entry to the University your scholarship will not be transferred. However, you will be automatically assessed if you choose to defer your entry until 2026/27.

Students must be self-funded, i.e., be paying the tuition fees for the course yourself at the international rate.

Where Queen’s University Belfast has agreed to discounted tuition fees with partner institutions, those students should confirm their eligibility with the International Scholarships by emailing internationalscholarships@qub.ac.uk.

Applicants may apply and/or be considered for more than one tuition fee award administered by Queen’s University Belfast, but if successful, they would receive only the highest value award, with the lower value award cancelled or allocated to another applicant, with the exception of the Early Confirmation Award, ISC Scholarship, NCUK Partnership Award, or Brickfields Exceptional Student Scholarship, where applicable.

£3500 (fee rate 1) for first year of study  

£4000 (fee rate 2) for first year of study
