NNPC-SNEPCO 2026 POSTGRADUATE SCHOLARSHIP

Shell Nigeria Exploration and Production Company Limited (SNEPCo), operator of the Oil Mining Lease 118 (OML 118) on behalf of itself and other Co-Venturers consisting of Esso Exploration and Production Nigeria and Nigerian Agip Exploration Company Limited under a Production Sharing Contract (PSC) with Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC) is delighted to announce the annual NNPC-SNEPCo Postgraduate Scholarship for applicants from across the 36 states in Nigeria including the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja.

The objective of the scholarship programme is to provide postgraduate study opportunity in courses that are relevant to the oil and gas industry, for qualifying students.

ELIGIBILITY:

For the academic year commencing September 2026, NNPC-SNEPCo, in partnership with two universities in the UK—the University of Aberdeen and Newcastle University—will award scholarships for one-year postgraduate M.Sc. studies.

The following courses qualify for the award of scholarships at the two institutions:

To qualify for the scholarship, applicants must; 

Display intellectual ability and leadership potential;  

Have an adequate standard of English (at least 6.5 in IELTS) and meet the College’s language requirement; 

Have been offered admission to study on one of the Eligible Courses at the College having applied through the normal application process. 

Already hold (or expect to hold by the time of taking up the Scholarship) a degree of an equivalent standard to a UK Upper Second-Class Honours degree 

Must have completed their National Youth Service by September 2026. 

Must be a Nigerian residing in Nigeria 

Have not already had the chance of studying in the UK or other developed countries. 

Be aged between 21-28 years by 30/09/2026. 

have a Nigerian international passport valid till December 2026 

Employees, employees’ relatives (or former employees who have left employment less than 5 years before) of SNEPCo , Royal Dutch SHELL Group of Companies or the College will not be eligible to apply for the Scholarships. 

BENEFIT:

The scholarship will cover tuition, one economy return-flight ticket from Nigeria to the UK, and a contribution towards living expenses only

THE IAN PARRY PHOTOJOURNALISM GRANT 2026

Applications are now being accepted for the Ian Parry Photojournalism Grant 2026. The Ian Parry Photojournalism Grant supports young and emerging photographers as they embark on their career in the world of photojournalism. They offer financial support, mentorship, and ongoing assistance for the promotion of their work. Importantly, the recipient becomes part of a network of past recipients and an extended family of people who care deeply about the grant and believe in the importance of photojournalism.

ELIGIBILITY:

The Ian Parry Photojournalism Grant is an international photographic competition for young photographers who are 24 years of age or under, or anyone who is studying in a full-time photographic course. Entrants must submit a portfolio of 12 images and a clear proposal of a project they would undertake if they received the grant.

Participation is FREE

Candidates applying for the Grant should ensure that their application contains the following information: 

Your name, date of birth, permanent address, personal email address, personal telephone number, and if applicable, college, the course title, and course tutor. 

If age 25 or over, you will need proof of student status, including a letter from a tutor 

A portfolio of 12 photographs, either a photo essay or individual photos with a project description giving us details of the portfolio you have uploaded for this application. 

Extended captions for each image as a PDF document. 

A clear project proposal explaining what project you would undertake if you received the scholarship.

BENEFIT:

The recipient will receive £10,000 towards their chosen project 

Loan of Canon equipment to the IP Grant recipient 

Publication of images by our media partner The Guardian 

Eligible for inclusion in the Hamburg portfolio review 

Eligible for inclusion in the VII Mentorship programme 

A year-long personal mentorship with an assignment from the Founder and CEO of Legacy of War Foundation, renowned photojournalist Giles Duley 

One recipient will also receive the Gentex Corp Personal Safety Award, receiving personal safety equipment, body armor and Hostile Environment Training. 

Save the Children will select one of the IPPG’s finalists to undertake a professional photography commission for STC. 

Each year a selection of finalists will have their work spotlighted by the panel of industry judges
