2025 FUNDED IMF INTERNSHIP PROGRAM (FIP) – ECONOMISTS

Are you looking for an exciting and challenging internship at a prestigious international financial institution?

Are you within a year or two of completing your PhD in economics or a related field?

The International Monetary Fund’s (IMF) Internship Program (FIP) may be the right opportunity for you!

ELIGIBILITY:

To compete for the FIP, at a minimum you must meet the following criteria:

PhD students

Be within one to two years of completing a PhD in macroeconomics or a related field.

Be in student status at the time of the internship (i.e. continuing PhD studies after the internship).

Be below the age of 32 at the commencement of the internship.

Have an excellent command of English, written and oral.

Possess strong analytical, quantitative and computer skills.

To be considered, you must complete an online job application, provide responses to all the questions and upload the following as attachments under “Resume”: 

A personal CV/Resume.

A recent transcript for the university program in which you are currently registered, or a letter from your university, confirming your active student status and recent grades.

Under the guidance of an experienced IMF colleague, you will conduct research and analysis on a topic determined by the Fund. Your work may culminate in a research paper and may be published internally. 

BENEFIT:

Successful applicants will undertake a 10-12 week paid internship between June and September 2025. The precise dates of the internship will be agreed between the intern and IMF supervisor at time of offer. The internship will be in-person located at the IMF headquarters in Washington DC.

SUNY CORTLAND INTERNATIONAL UNDERGRADUATE AND GRADUATE STUDENT GRANT

LOCATION: USA

This award is available to matriculated international undergraduate and graduate students attending SUNY Cortland. It provides financial support to ease tuition costs, and no application is required.

ELIGIBILITY:

To receive a grant, a student must:

be admitted to SUNY Cortland as a degree-seeking international undergraduate or graduate student

not participate in a graduate assistantship (graduate assistants are not eligible for this award).

For Matriculated, full-time international undergraduate students

A matriculated international graduate is expected to enroll full-time (12 credit hours per semester). Students enrolled in less than 12 credit hours will receive a pro-rated amount.

BENEFIT:

Undergraduate award amounts: up to $3,750 per semester (up to $7,500 per academic year).

Graduate Award Amounts: $3,750 per semester for full-time enrollment
