Are you looking for an exciting and challenging internship at a prestigious, international financial institution?

Are you within a year or two of completing your PhD in economics or a related field or completing a Master’s degree in economics?

The International Monetary Fund’s (IMF) Internship Program (FIP) may be the right opportunity for you! 

ELIGIBILITY

To compete for the FIP, at a minimum you must meet the following criteria:

PhD students

Be within one to two years of completing a PhD in macroeconomics or a related field.

Be in student status at the time of the internship (i.e. continuing PhD studies after the internship).

Be below the age of 32 at the commencement of the internship.

Have an excellent command of English, written and oral.

Possess strong analytical, quantitative and computer skills.

Master’s students

Completing a Master’s degree in macroeconomics or a related field.

Below the age of 28 at the commencement of the internship.

Have an excellent command of English, written and oral.

Possess strong analytical, quantitative and computer skills.

Only candidates who are identified for further consideration will be contacted by a FIP recruiter. Incomplete applications will be rejected.

The minimum duration is 10 weeks and the maximum duration is 12 weeks.

BENEFIT:

This internship is paid.

If you are not a citizen or permanent resident of the U.S., and do not have another work authorization that would allow you to work at the IMF, you will need a G4 visa. We will provide the paperwork necessary to facilitate your G4 visa request with U.S. authorities.

SIGMA AWARDS FOR DATA JOURNALISTS (FUNDED TRIP TO PERUGIA, ITALY & US$5,000 CASH PRIZE )

The Sigma Awards celebrates the best data journalism from around the world. It’s also here to empower, elevate and enlighten the global community of data journalists.  To enable everyone, no matter what languages they speak, to contribute to the global records of data journalism each year, entries are accepted in eight languages.

ELIGIBILITY:

It’s free to enter and open to all newsrooms, as well as individuals, around the world.

The Sigma Awards platform lets you enter in either of these 8 languages: English, Arabic, Spanish, French, Portuguese, Ukrainian, Russian, and Chinese.

You can submit as many entries as you want, as single entries or as a portfolio.

There is no category, just like last year, and no set number of winners

BENEFIT:

There’s a US$5,000 cash prize that will be split among winners. Winning participants will also be invited to Perugia, Italy to attend and take part in the International Journalism Festival 2024. It’s a great opportunity to come and meet fellow journalists from around the world (and eat gelato or pizza – or both – for four days). And finally, all winners will get a certificate suitable for framing.
