MIT SCHOOL OF SCIENCE POSTDOCTORAL FELLOWSHIP

The Office of the Dean, MIT School of Science, invites applications for its inaugural postdoctoral fellowship program. This three-year cohort-based program is expected to start September 2025. They seek to assemble a diverse cohort of world-class scientists who are conducting research across disciplinary boundaries. In addition to their research, fellows in this cohort will participate in leadership, mentorship and professional development training.  

ELIGIBILITY:

PhD in scientific field (granted by August 2025), scientific excellence and an exceptional ability for innovation and cross disciplinary research. 

Candidates must submit:

Curriculum Vitae (CV);

2-page research proposal, describing how their research crosses disciplinary boundaries;

Statement of support and commitment from the MIT faculty who will mentor the research;

(optional) one paragraph broader impacts description of how their appointment aligns with the MIT Values Statement which can be found at https://www.mit.edu/values/

BENEFIT:

This fellowship carries a stipend of $85,000, relocation allowance of $5,000, research allowance of $15,000, plus employee benefits such as health insurance.

The Sustainable Finance Summer Fellowship provides a unique opportunity to work with Morgan Stanley teams that seek to drive capital towards investments that promote sustainable economic growth and scalable solutions to global challenges. With support from across the Global Sustainability Office (GSO) and the Institute for Sustainable Investing, Morgan Stanley is dedicated to accelerating the adoption of sustainable investing, which seeks to deliver both competitive financial returns and positive environmental and social impact. 

ELIGIBILITY:

Currently working toward a master’s degree or are enrolled in a graduate level program.

Possess a clear and demonstrable interest in sustainability and sustainable finance.

Be able to summarize and articulate complex ideas effectively.

Be a team player and a self-starter who enjoys working on projects independently and in groups.

Possess strong organizational skills and the ability to work under tight deadlines.

The ability to manage multiple projects efficiently.

BENEFIT:

Expected base pay rate for the role will be $135,000 USD per year at the commencement of employment.
