The 2027 Presidential Scholarship Application is now open! Presidential Scholars are active and engaged members of the Honors College at EMU, complementing their academic college experience with further opportunities for critical thinking, community engagement, and leadership. Qualified students can apply for the Presidential Scholarship during their senior year of high school.
ELIGIBILITY:
High School Senior/Incoming Freshman for Fall 2027
Must be a high school graduate in 2026 or 2027
Must have at least one of the following:
A 3.85+ high school GPA (no SAT/ACT requirement) OR
A 3.5-3.84 high school GPA and a 25 composite ACT or 1200 SAT (Critical Reading + Math)
Must apply for admission to Eastern Michigan University and submit all official transcripts and test scores by December 15, 2026.
Must submit the Presidential Scholarship Application and all required materials by December 15, 2026.
Must visit Eastern Michigan University at least one time during the 2026 calendar year. Official campus events can include an official campus tour, open house, or one of the virtual honors sessions listed below.
These virtual sessions will help you learn what makes a strong Presidential Scholar application, get tips on how to stand out, and hear directly from current Presidential Scholars and Honors College staff about their experiences. Attending one of these virtual sessions can count as your visit requirement required for the application.
Register for October 29, 2026 at 7:00 p.m.
Register for November 16, 2026 at 7:00 p.m.
Register for November 30, 2026 at 9:00 a.m.
Register for December 1, 2026 at 7:00 p.m.
Timeline for 2027 Applicants:
The deadline to submit the Presidential Scholarship Application and all other required materials is December 15, 2026. No exceptions will be made.
Students chosen to move forward to the interview round will be notified by January 15, 2027.
The second round of interviews will be held on February 6, 2027.
BENEFIT:
The Presidential Scholarship covers full tuition and room and board for four years (valued at approximately $100,000).
