The Faculty of Engineering is delighted to be offering a limited number of Dean’s International Excellence Awards for Master’s Study to exceptional applicants joining a postgraduate taught programme in September 2026. All self-funded, international (non-EU), fee-paying postgraduate taught applicants joining one of our full-time on-campus programmes will be considered.

All eligible international offer holders will automatically be considered and contacted before 14 August 2026 if successful. A scholarship application is not required.

Subject eligibility: Aeronautical engineering, Architecture, Biomedical engineering, Chemical engineering, Civil & environmental engineering, Civil engineering, Design manufacture & engineering management, Electronic & electrical engineering, Engineering, Environmental engineering, Marine Engineering, Mechanical & aerospace engineering, Mechanical engineering, Naval architecture, Naval architecture ocean & marine engineering, Ocean engineering, Product design, Prosthetics & orthotics, Renewable energy

Students are required to demonstrate academic excellence (usually a UK first-class undergraduate degree or international equivalent) and the potential both to make a significant contribution to the Strathclyde community during their studies and in their chosen profession upon graduation. The deadline to be considered for the Dean’s International Excellence Award is 14 August 2026. There is no application process for this award, and chosen offer holders will be contacted in advance of the deadline.

Important things to note:

The award is available for eligible self-funded, international (non-EU) fee-paying applicants enrolling on a full-time postgraduate taught course within the University of Strathclyde’s campus in Glasgow starting in September 2026 only. The scholarships cannot be deferred or transferred to any other entry points. 

The scholarship will be awarded automatically, and no application is necessary. Please note that the scholarship details will be added to your student record once payment of the deposit has been received, and the funds will be automatically deducted from your overall fees. 

Those who receive full sponsorship from a government office or embassy are not eligible for these scholarships.

In order to be considered for a scholarship, an applicant must hold an offer to study on a full-time postgraduate taught course in September 2026.

Students are only eligible for one scholarship per academic year from the University of Strathclyde.

Students studying a two-year MSc course will receive a scholarship for each year of study. This includes the MArch Advanced Architectural Design, MArch Architectural Design (International), and the MSc Advanced Electrical Power and Energy Systems.

Students studying on the two-year MSc Ship and Offshore Technology course will receive a scholarship for year one only due to year two being studied at a partner institution.

Students in the 18-month MSc Advanced Mechanical Engineering with Industrial Placement course will receive an additional pro-rata scholarship for the remaining 6 months of the course studied in year 2.  

Students who do not meet any of the required criteria will automatically not be considered.

The Faculty of Engineering’s decision on the awarding of scholarships is final.

The Dean’s International Excellence Awards for Master’s Study are worth between £9,000 and £12,000.
