SWANSEA UNIVERSITY INTERNATIONAL EXCELLENCE SCHOLARSHIP  ACADEMIC YEAR 26/27

The International Excellence Scholarships are available to overseas students who have demonstrated academic excellence or show potential to do so during their time at Swansea University. 

ELIGIBILITY:

Applicants must be classed as overseas fee payers.  If the fee status of the applicant changes after the scholarship application is made, then the University will need to remove the scholarship.

Applicants must have applied for and received an offer to study at Swansea University (Singleton Park Campus and Bay Campus) on a course starting in the academic year 2026/27 at Undergraduate or Master’s level.  

Students studying for a PhD, MPhil, Masters by Research, MRes, Graduate Diploma in Law, Go Global Visiting, Exchange or Erasmus Mundus programme are not eligible to apply for this scholarship.

Students studying Taught Undergraduate and Taught Postgraduate programmes of study with course fees of £16,000 or above per year are eligible to apply. 

Students who will undertake part-time study are not eligible to apply.

Students studying at or progressing from ‘The College Swansea University’ are not eligible to apply for this scholarship.  

Students whose course fees are lower than £16,000 per year are not eligible to apply.

Students progressing from Undergraduate to Postgraduate Taught programmes are eligible to apply. 

Applicants must have demonstrated excellence in their academic performance to date and be able to show what they will achieve at Swansea University in their application.  

Applicants must be self-funded, i.e. not in receipt of sponsorship funding from their home country / sponsor body, or external third party organisation. If funding is confirmed after the scholarship is awarded, then the University reserves the right to remove it according to this condition.

Scholarships will be used to offset tuition fees only and cannot be used for any other purpose.

SWANSEA UNIVERSITY INTERNATIONAL THRIVE BURSARY

LOCATION: United Kingdom

The Thrive Bursary is available to new, self-funding international students enrolling in an undergraduate course or postgraduate taught course at Swansea University. Eligibility is based on your country of domicile, with full details of eligible countries and all bursary conditions outlined.

ELIGIBILITY:

The Thrive Bursary is open to students studying taught undergraduate and taught postgraduate programmes whose ordinary residence is in one of the countries listed below. Your ordinary residence is the country where you have been domiciled for the last 5 years and excludes countries in which you reside purely for the purpose of studying.

To be eligible for this bursary, you must be domiciled in Bahrain, Bangladesh, Botswana, Egypt, Ghana, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Jordan, Kenya, Kuwait, Lebanon, Malaysia, Morocco, Nigeria, Oman, Pakistan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Tanzania, Thailand, Turkey, United Arab Emirates, Uganda, Uzbekistan, Vietnam, or Zimbabwe.

You must be classified as an overseas student for fee purposes. If your fee status changes at any point, the bursary will be withdrawn.

You must be fully self-funding your studies.

Your ordinary residence must be in one of the countries listed above. 

You must be enrolled in a full-time taught course at Swansea University in academic year 2026/27.

Your course fees must be higher than £16,000 per year to be eligible for the Thrive Bursary.

For undergraduate students the progression bursary of £2,000 will only be applied if you successfully pass and progress to the subsequent year. Students retaking a year will not receive the Thrive tuition fee discount, but the tuition fee discount of £2,000 will be applied again on successful progression.

The Thrive Bursary is awarded automatically to eligible applicants, so no separate application is required.
