CALL FOR APPLICATIONS FOR THE MASTERCARD FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM AT THE UNIVERSITY OF CAMBRIDGE

The Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program at the University of Cambridge is pleased to announce that applications for the 2025/2026 academic year are now open.

ELIGIBILITY:

To qualify for the scholarship, candidates:

Must be citizens of an African country.

Must be resident in an African country, unless they can show temporary absence for study or work, except they are displaced or have refugee status.

Must be applying for a master’s course of up to one year in length, at the University of Cambridge.

Must meet the academic requirement of the course for which they are applying.

To be eligible for a scholarship offer, students are required to secure an admission from the relevant department. The Application process commences with an application for admission to the University of Cambridge via the course directory, to be completed by the funding deadline (which will be either the 5th December or 5th January depending on the course):- https://www.postgraduate.study.cam.ac.uk/courses.

As part of the application process, prospective scholars will be required to provide a supplementary statement that indicates their personal commitment to contributing to climate-resilience and sustainable futures for Africa.

Deadline: The deadline for submitting applications for funding is the 5th of December 2024 for courses with a 5th of December deadline and 5th of January 2025 for courses with a 5th of January deadline. When making an application, pay close attention to the funding deadline.

BENEFIT:

The programme covers full tuition costs, a monthly maintenance allowance and a laptop. Other costs covered include visa application fees, International Health Surcharge, and travel costs.

The Hansen Leadership Institute is accepting applications for our 2025 Summer Institute! The Hansen Leadership Institute is very pleased to announce that a new and improved application website has launched! 

ELIGIBLITY:

To participate in the Hansen Summer Institute, candidates must meet the following eligibility requirements:

NON – U.S. STUDENTS: (from zones of conflict and/or social strife)

Upper division undergraduate with 2 years of college/university or graduate student with a professional interest in international relations, diplomacy, international economic development or related fields.

Students must be between the ages of 20-25 at the start of the program.

Must have demonstrated leadership potential outside of the classroom in the community, nation or region.

Have an academic adviser verify in writing the candidate’s English proficiency

Have a valid international passport with U.S. visa if necessary by the time the program begins

Preference will be given to those who have never visited the United States

If you are selected as a participant, we will provide all the necessary documentation to assist in your U.S. visa application, including a letter of acceptance, a letter defining our financial support, a DS-2019 issued by the University of San Diego and a receipt for your paid SEVIS fees.

U.S. STUDENTS: (Students from any university in the United States)

Successful applicants must demonstrate leadership potential by having worked outside of class in community service, another public service, or in a non-governmental organization. A recommendation form from such a group or organization is required.

BENEFIT:

The Hansen Summer Institute is fully funded by the Fred J. Hansen Foundation. This includes international airfare, room and board, and all programmatic costs. If selected the only cost to participants will be the fees incurred in obtaining a passport and spending money.
