Unlock your academic and sporting potential with a tuition fee scholarship by applying for the International Sporting Excellence Award at the University of Nottingham. The institution offers scholarships towards full-time tuition fees for international students at any study level with outstanding sporting ability.

ELIGIBILITY:

To apply for the International Sporting Excellence Award scholarship, you must:

be of academy, national or international standard in any sport or show strong evidence of future outstanding potential

hold an offer to start a full-time academic course in any subject area at the University of Nottingham, UK.

This scholarship opens in January each year and is assessed via completing a sport scholarship application.

To receive a sport scholarship application, please first complete an expression of interest form

You do not need to receive an offer of study before applying for this scholarship, but we recommend applying for an academic course as soon as possible. Search for courses and find out how to apply.

Scholarship Criteria:

Priority is given to sports within the BUCS programme, Olympic, Paralympic, and Commonwealth sports, with other sports considered on a case-by-case basis.

This award cannot be combined with another University of Nottingham regional or sports scholarship. However, you may also be able to receive a subject scholarship from your academic school or an external scholarship, where the combined total does not exceed 100% of tuition fees. This could include, for example, an award from Nottingham University Business School and/or the government or other funding body in your country.

If you are awarded this scholarship, it will be deducted from the tuition fees charged to you as a student at the University of Nottingham. We will not pay tuition fee scholarships to you directly.

You may be offered either an International Sporting Excellence Award or another sports scholarships package.

They offer scholarships of £1,000-£7,000 towards full-time tuition fees for international students at any study level with outstanding sporting ability.

The ASMAF Scholarship Award is need-based financial aid for which the student and family’s financial situation is a primary factor in determining recipients. Besides the student’s and family’s financial situation, the awardees must be promising students with superior academic ability.

ELIGIBILITY:

To be eligible for the ASMAF Scholarship, the applying candidate must be able to meet up to the criteria below.

Be a female, INDIGENT, and Nigerian citizen embarking on tertiary-level qualifications for the first time.

Have gained admission to or be enrolled in a full-time accredited undergraduate programme in Medicine, Law, Actuary, Engineering, Accountancy, Architecture or any professional course in any public university in Nigeria.

Meet the financial need and academic requirements specified in these guidelines.

Demonstrate commitment to academic and professional excellence and possess strong leadership potential.

Submission starts on 1st of August, 2026. DEADLINE for collection and submission of application is Tuesday, 15th September, 2026. Late applications will NOT be accepted.

Selection decisions are final.

In the form, applicants must provide evidence of admission into the university and evidence of appropriate academic record. These must include but are not limited to the following:

Letter of university admission from the Joint Admissions and Matriculations Board (JAMB)

Evidence of credit passes in all the subjects required from any of the following viz.

General Certificate of Education (GCE) examination;

National Examination Council (NECO);

West African School Certificate (WASC) examination;

any other approved university qualifying examination.

Evidence of success in any required post-JAMB examination or interview or other criteria set up by the admitting university;

Awardees must submit the one-page annual progress report to ASMAF in each year of tenure.

The Award Provides:

Financial assistance for a professional course of study at a public Nigerian University covering tuition, board, and upkeep for a period of up to 6 years, depending on the course and year of award and subject to maintaining satisfactory academic progress.

Life skills and leadership development programmes including mentoring, with distinctive personal, academic and professional growth opportunities.

Access to resources that provide useful information and tools that encourage academic excellence and lifelong learning.
