OPEC FUND FOR INTERNATIONAL DEVELOPMENT INTERNSHIP PROGRAM 2025

The OPEC Fund offers an Internship Program enabling students from diverse academic backgrounds to experience working with an international organization. The Internship Program runs for between three and six months and is designed to: 

ELIGIBILITY:

Duties and Responsibilities:

Conducting research;

Writing documents;

Organizing information; and

Assisting employees with their day-to-day work.

Qualifications and Experience:

Applicants must be between 19 to 25 years of age and enrolled in an undergraduate program (having completed at least two years) or graduate program.

Alternatively, applicants may be recent graduates, having graduated a maximum of one year before the application deadline.

Fluent in English. Good working knowledge of Arabic, French, German or Spanish is an added advantage.

Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Keenly interested in the work of the OPEC Fund.

Ability to work in an international multi-cultural environment, with sensitivity and respect for diversity.

Ability to demonstrate the OPEC Fund’s core values (Integrity, Empowerment, Excellence, Innovation, Community).

In addition, the applicants are required to submit: 

An Online Application Form;

A Curriculum Vitae (CV);

A copy of their university diploma or equivalent, or an original letter of confirmation from a university/school certifying the applicant is / was an undergraduate student;

A copy of their most recent university transcripts, showing the cumulative GPA or equivalent; and

A short statement in English (about 150-250 words) outlining their motivation for applying.

Interns are assigned to different departments/units depending on their interests and qualifications and according to departmental needs. The Internship Program offers opportunities to focus on one or more of the following: public sector operations; private sector and trade finance operations; financial operations; risk management; strategic planning and economic services; internal audit; human resources; administration; communication; legal services; and information technology.

Undergraduate students in the third/fourth year of STEM-related majors, including students in Australian-style Honours degrees with a CGPA of 3.5 (on a 4.0 scale) or equivalent

Official enrolment letter from the University Registrar that includes registration status, admission date, program duration/expected graduation date

Official academic transcript that includes all registered courses from the first until the current semester with course names, grades and credit hours

Statement of Purpose

In a 400-word essay, explain why you would like to participate in the UGRIP at MBZUAI and include the following information:

Motivation for applying

Personal and academic background and how it makes you suitable for the UGRIP

Stand-out achievements (e.g., awards, distinction, etc.)

Goals as a prospective UGRIP participant

Preferred career path and plans

Any other details that will support the application

Official evidence of English language proficiency, such as an official letter from the University Registrar confirming that English is the medium of instruction at the applicant’s university or a valid certificate of any of the following:

TOEFL iBT with a minimum total score of 90

IELTS Academic with a minimum overall score of 6.5

Colored copy of passport (valid for at least one year)

All submitted documents must either be in English, originally, or include legal English translations. Additionally, official academic documents should be stamped and signed by the university authorities.
