HEINRICH BÖLL STIFTUNG SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION FOR INTERNATIONAL UNDERGRADUATE OR GRADUATE STUDENTS

The Heinrich Böll Foundation awards scholarships to international students who come to Germany to study. The programme is being implemented in accordance with the guidelines issued by Germany’s Federal Ministry of Research, Technology, and Space (BMFTR) and the Foreign Office (Auswärtiges Amt).

ELIGIBILITY:

Master’s degree or after intermediate diploma/examination; a copy of the first degree certificate/proof of first professional qualification must be provided.

The Heinrich Böll Foundation’s selection procedure for scholarship applicants consists of three stages:

Stage 1: Submission of written application documents, including a personal reference on your social commitment and an expert reference from a university lecturer or, in the case of new students, a schoolteacher via an online portal, http://www.boell.de/scholarships. Two staff members from the Studienwerk and from another department of the Heinrich Böll Foundation decide whether the application will be forwarded to the second stage.

Stage 2: An interview with a liaison lecturer, usually at the place of residence of the liaison lecturer in Germany, by telephone or digitally.

Stage 3: Digital interview with 3 to 4 selection committee members, including 1 to 2 external members, one scholarship holder, and one staff member of the Studienwerk. At each stage only a small group is selected for the next stage. You will be informed in writing of the decision reached at each stage of the selection procedure.

Regular period of study may be extended by one semester

BENEFIT:

€992 per month plus various individual allowances, possibly health insurance or similar

For scholarship holders only: Funding is available for limited periods spent abroad for the purpose of study.

UNIVERSITY OF LEICESTER CHANCELLOR’S INTERNATIONAL MASTER’S SCHOLARSHIP

LOCATION: United Kingdom

To honour Dame Maggie Aderin-Pocock, PhD, as the University of Leicester’s Chancellor, they are pleased to offer their Chancellor’s International Scholarship to all international-fee-paying students who meet their entry requirements for a postgraduate taught degree. Dame Maggie was born in London to Nigerian parents and is an award-winning space scientist, broadcaster, and author.

ELIGIBILITY:

You must be classified as an international student for fee purposes.

You must be starting a full-time, campus-based Master’s course or PGCE commencing in September 2025January 2026 or April 2026.

The fee discount will be calculated on the basis of the standard tuition fee.

The scholarship will be awarded for a maximum of one year and will not apply for periods of industrial placement, resit years, or if you suspend your studies for any reason.

In accordance with scholarship guidelines, students are allowed to hold only one University of Leicester scholarship. If you are awarded more than one scholarship, you will only receive the higher-value award.

If you currently have a conditional offer of a place at the University, you will still need to fulfill any conditions stated on your offer letter.

There is no need to apply for this scholarship. Eligible students will be automatically considered. If successful, you will be notified when you submit your final results.
