JERZY GIEDROYC FELLOWSHIP CALL FOR APPLICATIONS

The Institute for Human Sciences invites applications for the Jerzy Giedroyc Junior Visiting Fellowships. In recognition of Giedroyc’s legacy as founding editor of Kultura, and his contributions to promoting wider understanding of the interconnected history and intellectual traditions of the lands of modern-day Poland, Belarus, Lithuania, and Ukraine, these fellowships are designated for scholars working on projects related to:

Polish-Ukrainian, Polish-Belarusian, and Polish-Lithuanian relations, and related questions of history, politics, and literature, OR

The legacy of Giedroyc particularly, and/or the journal and publishing house Kultura

ELIGIBILITY:

The Jerzy Giedroyc Junior Visiting Fellowships are open to all academic disciplines in the humanities and social sciences.

Candidates for the Jerzy Giedroyc Junior Visiting Fellowship must be enrolled in a doctoral program in the humanities or social sciences or have obtained a PhD in the same fields in the past four years.

Applications must be submitted through the IWM’s online application form

All application materials should be in English.

BENEFIT:

The Junior Visiting Fellowship lasts four months and can be spent at IWM in Vienna from September 2024 to June 2025. Postdoctoral candidates––i.e., those who have defended their PhD by the date of the fellowship application deadline––will receive a stipend of EUR 3,000 per month; candidates currently pursuing their doctoral degree will receive a stipend of EUR 2,500 per month to cover accommodation, living expenses, travel, health insurance and any incidental costs related to their stay in Vienna.

In addition, the IWM provides visiting fellows with office space including access to the internet, administrative and research facilities as well as other services free of charge. The fellows will join the international, multidisciplinary scholarly community and participate in the activities of the IWM. Generally, fellowships start on the first day of the month and end on the last day of the month.

PADUA INTERNATIONAL EXCELLENCE SCHOLARSHIP

LOCATION: Italy

The University of Padua offers 59 scholarships to highly talented prospective students wishing to pursue a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree completely held in English in PaduaThe scholarship programme is highly selective. Only candidates showing the highest achievements and school / academic records may receive a scholarship. Successful scholars will be expected to fulfil an ambassadorial role and represent the University at a number of events.

ELIGIBILITY:

Highly talented prospective international students from all over the world wishing to enrol in one of University of Padua  Bachelor’s  or Master’s degrees completely held in English.

The Padua International Excellence Scholarship has a maximum duration of: 2 continuous years for Master’s degree candidates; and 3 continuous years for Bachelor’s and Single-Cycle degree candidates.

Do not possess an Italian citizenship (except for dual citizenship including Italian);

hold a non-Italian foreign secondary school diploma (for Bachelor’s or Single-cycle degrees applicants) or a non-Italian Bachelor’s degree (for Master’s degrees applicants) allowing admission to the Italian University system;

do not reside in Italy;

apply to one or more of the abovementioned degree programmes completely taught in English at the University of Padua. Please remember that you can apply up to 3 degree programmes.

BENEFIT:

Fee-waiver + €8,000 scholarship (gross amount) per each academic year. The only amount to be paid by beneficiary students for each year consists of an admission fee, corresponding to the regional tax and marca da bollo.
