FULLY FUNDED SECAI AI SCHOLARSHIP AT TU DRESDEN OR LEIPZIG UNIVERSITY

The SECAI scholarship programs were created to support outstanding students during their studies or research visit connected to AI or a related field at TU Dresden or Leipzig University.

The scholarships are mainly based on academic excellence, but also aims to improve internationalization and diversity in AI-related teaching programs. Women in STEM subjects are particularly encouraged to apply. Special personal circumstances are taken into account, for example if students are systematically disadvantaged or prosecuted in their home countries, or are refugees of war.

ELIGIBILITY:

Target Group: The primary objective of SECAI’s scholarship program is to support highly qualified students as the next generation of AI talents during their AI studies at TU Dresden and Leipzig University:

Master students at TU Dresden or University Leipzig, primarily in the following study courses:

Computer Science at TU Dresden,

Nanoelectronic Systems at TU Dresden,

Tracks Computational Life Science and Applied Artificial Intelligence of Computational Modelling and Simulation at TU Dresden,

Data Science at Leipzig University,

Bioinformatics at Leipzig University, and

Medical Informatics at Leipzig University.

International students visiting a research group at TU Dresden or Leipzig University

Students at TU Dresden or University Leipzig visiting international partners, especially within other SECAI activities, e.g., Research in Academic Projects for Students (RAPS) and Research Experience for Undergraduates (REUs)

Who can apply: Students can apply if they meet all of the following criteria:

The content of their studies, chosen specialization, or topic of the project work planned under the scholarship is closely related to the research areas of SECAI.

They are students in an Master program, or students in a Diplom program where they have successfully completed the first two years of Diplom studies (Grundstudium).

They are students of TU Dresden or Leipzig University, or they are visiting a research group at TU Dresden or Leipzig University.

They demonstrate an above-average academic track record, typically with a cumulative grade point average of 1.7 or better (after conversion to the German grading system). Exceptions may be made in case of adverse personal circumstances.

BENEFIT:

The residency scholarship consists of a monthly allowance as defined in the applicable scholarship regulations, currently EUR 934. Any extra income must be declared, and the scholarship may be reduced by the amount of gross income exceeding EUR 603. Foreign students may be entitled to a monthly family allowance.

Moreover, SECAI offers mobility grants to support both incoming and outgoing exchanges of students with international partners. The amount of mobility grants depends on the country.

FACULTY OF ENGINEERING INTERNATIONAL SCHOLARSHIP FOR MASTER’S STUDY – SEPTEMBER 2026

The Faculty of Engineering is delighted to be offering scholarships to all eligible postgraduate taught, self-funded, international (non-EU) fee-paying students joining a full-time on-campus course in the Faculty of Engineering in September 2026. The scholarship will be awarded automatically, and no application is necessary.

ELIGIBILITY:

Subject eligibility: Aeronautical engineering, Architecture, Biomedical engineering, Chemical engineering, Civil & environmental engineering, Civil engineering, Design manufacture & engineering management, Electronic & electrical engineering, Engineering, Environmental engineering, Marine Engineering, Mechanical & aerospace engineering, Mechanical engineering, Naval architecture, Naval architecture ocean & marine engineering, Ocean engineering, Product design, Prosthetics & orthotics, Renewable energy

The scholarships are available for eligible self-funded, international (non-EU) fee-paying applicants enrolling on a full-time course within the University of Strathclyde’s campus in Glasgow starting September 2026 only. The scholarships cannot be deferred or transferred to any other entry points. 

The scholarships will be awarded automatically, and no application is necessary. Please note that the scholarship details will be added to your student record once payment of the deposit has been received, and the funds will be automatically deducted from your overall fees. 

Those who receive full sponsorship from a government office or embassy are not eligible for these scholarships.

In order to be considered for a scholarship, an applicant must hold an offer to study on a full-time postgraduate taught course in September 2026.

Students are only eligible for one scholarship per academic year from the University of Strathclyde.

Students studying a two-year MSc course will receive a £6,000 scholarship for each year of study. This includes the MArch Advanced Architectural Design, MArch Architectural Design (International), and the MSc Advanced Electrical Power and Energy Systems.

Students studying on the two-year MSc Ship and Offshore Technology course will receive a £6000 scholarship for year one only due to year two being studied at a partner institute.

Students on the 18-month MSc Advanced Mechanical Engineering with Industrial Placement course will receive an additional pro-rata scholarship for the remaining 6 months of the course studied in year 2.  

Students who do not meet any of the required criteria will automatically not be considered.

The Faculty of Engineering’s decision on the awarding of scholarships is final.

BENEFIT:

The value of the scholarship award is £6,000 and will be deducted from your tuition fees.
