UNIVERSITY OF TURIN CALL FOR APPLICATIONS FOR THE AWARD OF 10 “UNITO FOR STUDENTS AT RISK” SCHOLARSHIPS FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

The University of Turin has established 10 annual scholarships, possibly renewable, aimed at students who hold a residence permit for international protection (asylum/refugee status or subsidiary protection), special protection, temporary protection due to the humanitarian emergency in Ukraine and for another form of protection in accordance with Italian laws on immigration, issued in Italy from 2018. The scholarship is reserved to students who enrol for the first time in the a.y. 2024/2025 and in the first year of a University’s study program with free admission.

 The 10 annual scholarships will be awarded as follows:

4 scholarships to applicants enrolled on the undergraduate degree programs (three- year program) with free admission, listed below:

Global Law and Transnational Legal Studies (delivered in English)

Languages and Modern Cultures for Tourism (delivered in Italian)

Modern Languages and Literatures (delivered in Italian)

6 scholarships to applicants enrolled on one of UniTo’s postgraduate degree programs with free admission in Italian, in English.

ELIGIBILITY:

Those who, by the deadline of this call, meet the following requirements, are eligible to apply, under penalty of exclusion:

born after January 1, 1995;

hold a residence permit for international protection (asylum/refugee status or subsidiary protection), special protection, for temporary protection due to the humanitarian emergency in Ukraine, for another form of protection in accordance with Italian laws on immigration, issued in Italy from 2018;

hold a foreign qualification eligible for enrolment for the 2024/2025 academic year on a undergraduate degree program (three-year program) with free admission, achieved after at least 12 years of schooling, or on postgraduate degree program with free admission of the University of Turin;

have submitted the application on the Apply@UniTo platform reserved to students in possession of a foreign qualification by 31 January 2024 (applications for postgraduate degree programs) or by 30 April 2024 (applications for undergraduate degree programs (three-year program)) or submit it between 21 August and 4 September 2024.

PLEASE NOTE: In the absence of documentation certifying the qualification held, the European Qualification Passport for Refugees issued by the Council of Europe can be submitted.

ATTENTION: admission to the chosen degree program is subject to the eligibility of the foreign qualification (verified by the International Students Office) and the possession of the curricular and linguistic requirements.

BENEFIT:

The scholarship consists of a cash benefit in the total amount of €11,000 (gross for the recipient) and the following support services:

welcome, orientation, inclusion into university and social life;

assisted procedures for university enrolment;

cultural mediation and psychological support services;

tutoring;

customised accommodation services for students with disabilities or specific learning disorders;

LOEWE FOUNDATION CRAFT PRIZE, AN INTERNATIONAL AWARD CELEBRATING EXCELLENCE IN CRAFTSMANSHIP.

LOCTION: Spain

The LOEWE FOUNDATION seeks to recognize uniquely talented artisans whose artistic vision and will to innovate set new standards for the future of craft.

ELIGIBILITY:

All participants must be professional artisans of 18 years or older at the time of the submission of entries. Entries may be made by an individual or collective (as a ‘group submission’). Businesses and mercantile companies of any kind are excluded. All nationalities are welcome.

Each participant can present either one single piece of work or one series of works, understood as a number of objects considered as a single artistic creation (henceforth, ‘the Work’). This should fall within an area of the applied arts and, as a guide, within the following categories: ceramics, bookbinding, enamelwork, jewellery, lacquer, metal, furniture, leather, textiles, glass, wood, paper, etc.

Materials and products outside the categories listed are not excluded; they may be accepted by the Experts Panel if they comply with the aim and requirements of the competition. Dangerous, prohibited or alive materials are excluded. All Works must:

Be owned by the participant, at all times, since its creation until the end of the License period,

Be an original one-off piece, handmade or partly handmade by the participant,

Have been recently created (in the last five years),

Have won no prizes previously,

Be innovative, in the sense that it updates tradition,

Demonstrate artistic intent,

Be able to travel and be installed by LOEWE and/or the LOEWE FOUNDATION.

BENEFIT:

The Prize for the winning piece of work is fifty thousand euros (50,000 euros). The winning entry can be made up of either one single piece of work or one series of works.

The Prize for the works awarded with a Special Mention is five thousand euros (5,000 euros), regardless of the number of Special Mentions granted.

Prizes will be subject to the withholding of the corresponding Spanish personal income tax (Impuesto sobre la Renta de las Personas Físicas, IRPF) in accordance with current legislation in Spain.

The works created by the Winner and Finalists will be included in the exhibition ‘LOEWE FOUNDATION Craft Prize 2025’ (herein after ‘the Exhibition’) and its accompanying catalogue, on view in Madrid in the
spring of 2025 or any other location that LOEWE FOUNDATION may deem appropriate.
