Dr. Tao Hu invites applications for fully funded PhD Research Assistant positions starting in Spring 2027 or Fall 2027. The GRA will primarily focus on recently funded National Science Foundation (NSF) and National Institutes of Health (NIH) projects, using GIS and GeoAI to address pressing public health challenges. Applicants with backgrounds in GIS, Computer Science, Informatics, Mathematics, Statistics, Epidemiology, or any related area are welcome to apply.

ELIGIBILITY:

To be considered for the 2027 Oklahoma State University Scholarship, you must meet the requirements below;

Backgrounds in GIS, Computer Science, Informatics, Mathematics, Statistics, Epidemiology, or any related area are welcome to apply.

Preference will be given to candidates who are highly motivated, proficient in GIS tools (e.g., ArcGIS Pro), familiar with quantitative methods, comfortable with programming, eager to learn, hardworking, and interested in an area related to Dr. Hu’s research focuses, including:

Geospatial big data analytics

Human behavior and public health

Location-based social media data analytics

Geospatial Artificial Intelligence (GeoAI)

Human mobility

Spatial epidemiology

BENEFIT:

Funding will be available to support the student through a research assistantship, but the student will also have an opportunity with teaching or research assistantships.

This will cover tuition fees, a living stipend, conference and research travel, and health insurance.
